What we’ll discuss
Director Forum is a monthly discussion event for Directors & Assistant Directors of Disability Services & Access departments where we meet, network, and problem solve together. Think of it as a support group - people who you’ll be able to trust, learn from, and meet with regularly to seek creative approaches to your problems.
At our November meeting, we’ll be discussing having difficult conversations. Difficult conversations can come from so many angles in disability services: faculty members pushing back on accommodations; learners who want a specific accommodation you can’t provide; students requesting accommodations they’ve received in K-12 but are tricky or impossible to offer in higher education; parents who are vocal on behalf of their children. In this session we’ll discuss how to handle these difficult conversations, and share tips on what has worked well in past experiences.
Bring your challenge to the meeting and discuss it with your peers. Director Forum is all about sharing, listening, and learning together. Come ready to ask for help and share your experiences.
