From Stressful to Successful Meetings
Matt, an Assistive Technology Trainer, navigates the workplace with attention deficit disorder (ADHD) and borderline personality disorder. He found that long business meetings, with their influx of information and pressure to take notes, often left him feeling overwhelmed and stressed.
"To be put in... a business meeting where I have to focus on information coming at me for an hour, hour and a half was always stressful for me" he explains.
Traditional note-taking methods presented further challenges.
"My note taking was a disaster... And I can't type, I can't touch type. So going into those kind of environments was very stressful for me."
Discovering Glean was a turning point. With Glean, Matt no longer feels the pressure to frantically scribble or type notes during meetings. Instead, he can relax, listen attentively, and contribute meaningfully, knowing that he can revisit the conversation later through the accurate transcript. This newfound freedom has allowed him to actively participate and absorb information more effectively.
Glean has also given Matt a valuable tool to reinforce his understanding of meeting content.
"The Quiz Me feature has been handy for me, as well to extract the main points of what was being said and to see if I've got the point of what was being said in any business meeting per see."
This proactive approach to reviewing and reinforcing information helps Matt feel more confident in his ability to retain and apply what was being discussed, even in a workplace context, highlighting Quiz Me's value isn't just constrained to students.
For Matt though, Glean's most valuable feature is the transcription. Having a written record of the meeting allows him to revisit the information at his own pace and process it more effectively. This reinforces his understanding and ensures he doesn't miss any crucial details.
"[his favourite] of all the features that Glean gives me personally is just the transcript, to be having that transcript, seeing back what was said. It gives me the ability to enjoy the business meeting as well and not being stressed out."
Matt's story highlights how Glean can empower individuals with neurodiversity to thrive in the workplace. By providing tools that cater to different needs and reduce stress, Glean helps create a more inclusive and productive environment for everyone.
