Juggling Devices and Deadlines
Evelyn Huaman, a medical student at McGill University in Montreal, faces a unique challenge: learning in a fast-paced, hands-on environment that demands constant multitasking. Between managing multiple devices, collaborating with peers, and practicing in simulated scenarios, capturing and retaining crucial information can be overwhelming.
"I use actually three devices," Evelyn explains. "I use my iPad, I use my phone, and then I use pen and paper."
With lectures that involve accessing slides on her iPad or phone while simultaneously trying to listen and take notes, Evelyn relies on Glean to record and transcribe the audio, ensuring she doesn't miss any vital details amidst the multitasking.
"It's there for... safety," she says of Glean's transcription feature. "In case there was something important that was said... and then I completely missed that in... my notes."
But Glean offers Evelyn much more than just a safety net. Its ability to isolate the teacher's voice amidst classroom noise has been a game-changer.
"I was so mind blown," she recalls of her first experience using Glean's noise reduction feature. "Finally something like this. Glean really focuses on the voice and you can mute, the background noise. It was very life-changing."
Beyond lectures, Evelyn utilises Glean to transcribe lengthy medical videos, saving her valuable time and effort.
"Just having the transcript... generated from the recording of the video... was just so helpful," she shares. "I just had to copy and paste it into one document, and then I used that to study from it."
Looking ahead, Evelyn is eager to explore Glean's outline feature to further streamline her note-taking and enhance her understanding of complex pharmacological concepts.
"For me, the outline is going to be really helpful for that," she says.
Evelyn's story illustrates how Glean empowers students to navigate demanding academic environments. By providing a reliable way to capture and organise information, Glean helps students like Evelyn focus on what matters most: learning and mastering their chosen field.
