Summary
The Legal and Compliance Assistant position is a newly created role as a result of Glean’s continued growth. Reporting to the Legal and Compliance Officer, your work will be transatlantic as you provide support to stakeholders, both internal and external, in the UK and North America. This is an exciting opportunity to be trained and developed within the field of Legal and Compliance - you don’t need to have a law degree or a legal background to be successful in this role. Instead, what’s really important to us is a growth mindset and a willingness to learn.
The Role
As Legal and Compliance Assistant, you will be working to support your colleagues’ queries internally at Glean, as well as our external clients, so excellent communication is key. You’ll also be given the opportunity to undertake cross-functional project work in information security, as well as receiving training to become a subject matter expert in an area of interest to you, for example, data protection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as first point of contact for all inbound legal and compliance queries, escalating matters as necessary to the Legal and Compliance Officer
- Commercial Contract Management
- Completing vendor data security and privacy questionnaires
- Coordinating GDPR Data Request processes e.g. Subject Access Request and Right to Erasure Request
- Continually monitoring regulatory landscape in the UK and US and reporting findings to Legal and Compliance Officer
- Updating and maintaining company compliance policies and procedures
- Maintaining the company Risk Register
- Ad-hoc tasks as required
Requirements
To be successful in this role you’ll have a genuine interest and curiosity in regulatory compliance and commercial law. You won’t need to have a professional legal background or to have studied law; perhaps you’ve gained experience in risk management, audit, or quality assurance and are keen to pursue a career in legal and compliance? If you can demonstrate the following skills and have a genuine willingness to learn about law , we’d love to hear from you;
- Ability to multitask; you’ll be managing a varied workload so it’s important to be able to balance Business As Usual tasks alongside project work and prioritise accordingly
- An eye for detail; accuracy and precision are essential in this role to be able to deliver a quality service to our clients and internal stakeholders
- A growth mindset; we’re looking for someone who wants to learn and become an expert within the role
- An appreciation for the importance of processes and regulatory requirements
- Awareness of the GDPR; if you have a basic understanding of the General Data Protection Regulation and/or UK Data Protection Act 2018 this will be highly desirable
