Glean Privacy Updates
When we make significant changes to our Privacy Notice we'll summarise them here.
Update Effective 21 November 2024 (current version)
What's changed?
- We've moved our list of Third Party Data Processors to this web page: https://glean.co/third-party-data-processors to make it quicker and easier to find the information you're looking for.
- We've added this link to our Privacy Notice in the section "Does Glean Share Personal Data?"

What's changed?
- We've made improvements to the overall language to make sections easier to understand
- We've made clear in the introduction that our website and software aren't intended for children and we won't knowingly collect children's personal data
- We've added mobile telephone number and organisation name as items of personal data that we may collect from you, in the section "What personal data does Glean collect and process?"
- We've added additional uses of personal data relating to research and development, performance testing, and technical support, in the section "What personal data does Glean collect and process?"
- We've updated the section "Sensitive personal data collection" (also called Special Category data), including explaining the GDPR legal basis that we rely on to process this kind of personal data, and instances where this applies
- We've removed the section "Third Party Data Processors", including the list of individual named processors, and have instead provided categories of processors. You can still request this list from us, though, by emailing legal@glean.co
- We've added a region-specific privacy section for California residents

What's changed?
- We've added a new third party processor, Microsoft Azure, to our list of processors. We use MS Azure to host our Quiz Me and AI Outline features.
This change is only applicable to users that have access to Quiz Me through the Early Access Programme.

What's changed?
- We've restructured our Privacy Notice and made language changes to make it easier to understand and navigate
- We've provided more detail about the personal information we collect from you and why we collect it
- We've listed the names of our third party processors, their location, and the service they provide in the section "Third Party Data Processors"
- We've explicitly referenced the UK GDPR and the key data protection principles that we adhere to
- We've removed outdated information on the EU-US Privacy Shield because it's no longer a valid data transfer mechanism.
